Styer & Associates Brings Historic Residence To Life On The Park

Amy Styer designs one-of-a-kind residence on Washington Square Park

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - April 28, 2004 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- Styer & Associates, Inc.
(www.styerassociates.com) brings one of the most unique residences in the country to one of
America's most historic locations, Washington Square Park in Philadelphia. This wonderful
residence is located on the Historic Mile of Philadelphia, footsteps away from the Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier, numerous 19th century residences, and a Victorian-style Athenaeum (one of
many National Historic Landmarks on the park). Several businesses also reside there, including
some that originated in the 18th century, when George Washington was president. The square
bears his namesake in order to honor him as a great general and the first President.

Designing and building a new residence on the first floor of one of the few quaint historic
row homes on the park was the challenge taken up by Ms. Amy Styer of Styer & Associates, Inc.
The project included the build, furnishing and interior design of what is now the private
residence of Mickey and Nancy Straff. The Straffs asked Ms. Styer "to create a one-of-a-kind
residence that tied into the history and culture of the park, while meshing some 21st century
amenities into our life space."

Interior design consultancy Styer & Associates collaborated with Oliver Construction (a
division of Styer & Associates) for the "build" portion of the project to ensure a place of
quiet, elegant contemplation in historic surroundings for the Straff family.

What stands out overall is the mix of color, light, glass, and brick - all integrated
seamlessly to generate a harmonious atmosphere for every room in the residence. With the
finest fabrics, furniture, fixtures and materials, Ms. Styer's final design presents a warm,
yet functional style for this high-profile location.
